Linkage of burglar alarm and video surveillance system

But the anti-theft alarms and video surveillance equipment are made by different manufacturers.Their communication protocols are different.Therefore, a certain way is needed to set the linkage of these two devices. There are three linkage modes of burglar alarm and video surveillance system. 1.The linkage of alarm device and DVR/NVR (relay output signal linkage) The alarm panel has 485 communication interface, it will send alarm data to linkage module when it receives alarm from wired and wireless detectors. The linkage module (always 32 channels) will be connected with DVR/NVR and transfer the alarm data to DVR/NVR (the DVR/NVR should have alarm linkage input interface). The linkage function can be set on the DVR/NVR software. Advantages: easy to connect with hard connection. Shortage: linkages channels are limited to 32 or expanded to 64 only. 2.The linkage of alarm and network camera The alarm host will communicate with alarm center when it receives alarm signal from wired or wireless detectors. (If the alarm host has GPRS or TCP/IP network, it can communicate with the alarm center directly. If the alarm host has no network but with 485 interface, it can connect with network module and communicate with alarm center.) Then the alarm center will communicate with the video surveillance server and ask for relative network camera video information. Then the required network camera video information will be got and displayed. This kind of linkage is based on burglar alarm software, and the final linkage video is also reflected in the interface of anti-theft alarm software. Therefore, the other side needs to provide the SDK to access the network camera software for the development of anti-theft alarm manufacturers. The original video monitoring system is not used. For example, No.1 alarm detector was linked with 8842 camera. Then when triggers No.1 alarm detector, it will send alarm signal to the alarm host, the alarm host will send to the alarm center software, the software will send to the camera server for obtaining 8842 camera video instructions, obtained 8842 camera video signal will go back to the center of the alarm software. Shortage: Relative communicated. 3.Linkage of alarm and network video server The alarm host will communicate with video server and ask for relative network camera video information when it receives alarm signal from wireless or wired detectors. Then the obtained video information will be displayed on video alarm center. This kind of linkage is based on video alarm server software. So, the burglar alarm manufacturer should provides the SDK to the video alarm server manufacturer. Advantage: relatively easy to realize.

What is beam system and how does it work
Beam system is active infrared detector. It is consist of transmitter terminal, receive terminal, Optical lens, LED indicator for light intensity etc. The system works as invisible light wall. When someone is entering into the light wall, it blocked the beams. Then the detector triggers alarm for warning and notice. The beam system keeps working 24 hours. To avoid false alarm of blocking by falling leaves, flying bird or small animals, the blocking time should be set not too short. But to ensure no missing alarm of quick passing theft, the blocking time should be set not too long. So, the blocking time or named sensitivity should be set accurately according to the environment. Factories may make the sensitivity adjustable at set value. Below is the sensitivity adjustment way for Solar powered beams system. HB-T001Q3+ is updated item of HB-T001Q3. Test Method and Notes for the Solar Powered Wireless Beams
Test Method To test the quality of wireless solar powered alarm wireless beams, we should test 4 parts of the system. They are battery, infrared distance, wireless signal transmitting distance and solar panel charging capability at cloudy and rainy days. A. Test of battery The rate voltage of the battery is 4.2V. If the solar powered wireless beam works at illumination under 1600Lx for continual days and the battery voltage is down to 3.8V, the product will activate battery protection system. It will protect the battery from overusing and the solar powered beams don’t work now. After the battery is recharged to 4.1V, it restart to work. At normal working environment, the battery starts to recharge when voltage is 3.9V and without low voltage protection. Test 1: Working time without sunlight The solar powered beams can work for 20 days without sunlight. Put the beams with battery installed at place whithout illumination such as drawer, box, then trigger it. The day before receiver terminal indicator doesn’t light on is the last working day. Test 2: Battery recharging time At normal sunlight environment, the battery recharging time is 1 day. (from low voltage to full voltage) Put the beam with battery installed at place full of sunlight, take down the battery and test its voltage after 1 day. B. Test of infrared distance The infrared distance of wireless solar powered beams is 100m Install the batteries in beams, aiming and then enroll it to alarm panel. Take the transmitter and receiver beams to 100m distance, aiming again, receiver terminal indicator flash slow then flash fast and then light off. Trigger the beams, the alarm panel send out alarm signal. C. Test of wireless transmitting distance The distance between wireless beams and alarm panel is 100m (can reach to 1 km with high power) Put the alarm panel at a place, enroll the wireless beams to the panel, put the beams at another place which is 100m from the panel, trigger the beams, the panel will alarm. Repeat to trigger the beams to test the stability. D. Test of solar panel charging capability at bad days Amorphous silicon solar panel is used for the beams. It enables the beams to be recharged at cloudy and rainy days. At cloudy or rainy day, put the beam outdoor without battery installed. Place the solar panel towards outside. The beam indicator red LED will keep flashing. That means the solar panel is charging. The solar panel works via absorbing UV light and can work at illumination level is over 1700Lx. The illumination can reach to 2500-2700Lx with sun light and reach to 2000Lx without sun light. Notes of using the solar powered wireless beams 1. Trigger way Only all beams are blocked, the product will trigger alarm. To avoid false alarm by animals and falling down things, the product is designed with required blocking speed. A thicker object such as a book is required for test. Not too fast speed is required to test. Please make sure the receiver indicator lights on when it is triggered. When the product is triggered, the receiver terminal indicator will light on, then light off. Only after it lights off, it will be on work status again for next time trigger. If the indicator is lighting on and now trigger it again, it will not send alarm signal. 2. Aiming If transmitter terminal and receiver terminal are not aimed, the indicator of receiver will keep lighting on. When they are aimed, the receiver terminal indicator will flash slow, then fast and lights off at last. Now, it is at work status. 3. Alarm Panel Antenna of the alarm panel should be pulled out totally to ensure the receiving distance. Remember to enroll the test beams to the alarm panel and arm the panel before test. Avoid to test and use the wireless alarm products at places which is with high magnetism, high voltage equipment or metal objects.

How to choose active infrared beams
There are different beams quantity such as 2 beams, 3 beams, 4 beams, 6 beams and 8 beams of photoelectric beam sensor. So, how many beams should I choose? The more beams means higher of protection height and longer of detection distance. For example, if the distance between two infrared holes is 35mm, then, for 3 beams sensor, the protection height is 70mm. For 4 beams sensor, any two neighbor beams are blocked, it will trigger alarm. Same for 6 beams or 8 beams sensor. So more beams will be with more security such as for bank. More beams means more power of infrared beam transmission and with stronger penetration to against interference of fog, sunshine etc. And what does the infrared detection distance mean? It means the distance between the transmission terminal and receiving terminal. The actual installation distance should be less than 80% of the specified distance. How to install PIR and Door Contact for home security
Infrared detector is popular motion sensor. The PIR is used for security protection of bed rooms, living room, balcony etc. It is installed with bracket for angle adjustment. The detection area may be horizontal 110 degree, thickness 65 degree of fan-shaped area. Can you install the PIR according to the instruction manual? Below we will make clearer steps for guidance. Step1. Using impact drill to make two holes on the wall according to PIR bracket fixing hole. Then fix PIR bracket with screws (included in the PIR package) If there is no impact drill, using cement nail to fix the bracket on the wall. Step2. Insert the PIR body to the universal bracket. The PIR level angle and vertical angle can be adjusted for best detection. It is better to install PIR in the corner of wall to get best protection area. Select installation location, installation height according to PIR instruction manual. Below is the illustration of installation ways and effect. magnetic contact is another essential component of home security. Door contact includes two parts: magnetic switch and emitter. When these two parts are separated by about 1cm, the emitter will send alarm signal to siren strobe or alarm control panel. Magnetic contact can be used for alarm of door windows, fence or other protected objects. The emitter should be installed on fixed object such as the door frame. The magnetic switch should be installed on moving object such as door. If the door and the door frame is not at the same plane, you can use a small piece of wood to block up the low side. There are metal door contact, wood door contact and rolling door contact. Please select corresponding door contact for the door security protection. You can use double faced adhesive tape to fix the door contact or use screw to fix the door contact. It is better to use screw fix it. Natural gas, LPG is used for home cooking, heating. But the gas is with dangers if it is not used properly. So, people should know how to use the gas source correctly. A gas detector is not enough for home gas security. A connected solenoid valve is better for gas source leakage shut off. What should we do if gas leakage is detected? The fire fighting person said:”When we are at gas leakage spot, we even dare not kick the door or knock, smash with a metal tool. Because that may produce spark and detonate gas.” We should remember what we must not do at gas leakage spot. gas leakage control 1.No fire is allowed, no smoking, no lighter. We will share our working experience of alarm system troubleshooting categorized into 3 articles according to these 3 parts. 1. CMS machine can not receive all users’ alarm information. Possible causes: problems of telephone line network communication such as strong interference or loud noise on the telephone line, short or cut of the telephone line, the burglarproof switch on the telephone is turned on or telecommunications office network failure. Problem of alarm control panel CMS communication programming error. Problem of the CMS network such as serial port is shut off on the software, serial port connection error, serial port damage or PC fault. Solutions: Check whether or not telephone line is cut or with short-circuit. Shut off burglarproof switch on the telephone. Confirm the alarm control panel CMS communication programming is correct including CMS telephone number, CMS communication grade, CMS communication format, user code, alarm report option. Turn on serial port on the CMS software, connect the serial wiring correctly, confirm the serial port is good. Check and confirm the PC can work properly. Check whether or not the CMS software is trial version and trial time is due from system log. alarm system fault alarm system trouble shooting 2. CMS machine can receive alarm information, but the alarm information can not pop-up. Possible causes: user information does not exist on CMS software. Serial port is shut off or serial connection error, serial port damage. Solutions: Add user information into the CMS software, turn on serial port and correctly connect the serial wiring, check and confirm the serial port is good. 3. CMS machine can receive alarm information, but can not report it to police center or forward to other department. Possible causes: problems of telephone line network such as strong interference, cut or short-circuit of the telephone line or communication failure of the telecommunication office. The forwarding telephone number is not correctly filled into the CMS software. Solutions: Check and confirm telephone network is good and with good communication. Check and confirm the forwarding telephone number is correctly filled into the CMS software. Conclusion: CMS for security service center includes software and hardware and it requires carefully programming and setting to ensure its proper work.

We will share our working experience of alarm system troubleshooting categorized into 3 articles according to these 3 parts. 1. The alarm system does not alarm after system armed or forced armed and wired detector is triggered, why? Possible causes: wiring error such as wired detector is not connected with alarm control panel correctly, short-circuit or cut of wiring between wired detector and alarm control panel, low voltage of the detector or end line resistor is not wired or not correctly wired. Programming error such as zone attribute is not programmed or not correctly programmed. Solution: Check and confirm the wiring between wired detector and alarm control panel is good and end line resistor is wired correctly. Check the supplied detector voltage and confirm it is not less than 9V. Check the zone attribute is edited correctly. alarm system troubleshooting alarm control panel The alarm system does not alarm after system armed or forced armed and wireless detector is triggered, why? Possible causes: The detector battery voltage is low. The detector is not correctly learned to the alarm control panel. The detector is not programmed into the alarm system zone or zone attribute is not programmed correctly. The distance between wireless detector and alarm control panel exceeds rated distance. There is metal block between wireless detector and alarm control panel. Solutions: Change the battery and re-enroll the wireless detector to the alarm control panel, correctly programming the detector zone attribute. Shorten distance between wireless detector and alarm control panel. If there is metal block, please replace the wireless detector. 3. The alarm control panel can not receive remote signal and transferring signal, why? Possible causes: Power supply is not enough for remote controller or signal transceiver, the wireless remote or transceiver is not enrolled correctly into the alarm control panel. The distance between the remote or transceiver and the alarm control panel is too long. Alarm control panel can not decode the received signal. Solutions: Change remote battery and re-enroll the remote controller to the alarm control panel correctly. Shorten the distance between the remote control or the transceiver to the alarm control panel. If above solution does not work, there maybe problem of the wireless receive module of the alarm control panel and it should be return to factory for repair. 4. The alarm control panel makes false alarm, why? Possible causes: the detector fault or wrong installed. Solution: Check which zone triggers alarm and check the detector. 5. The alarm control panel makes sounds at normal work status. Possible causes: The alarm control panel can make sounds of alarm, fault alert, delay arm sound, alarm delay sound etc. Solution: Check and identify which sound the alarm control panel made then solve the problem according to the sound. If no alarm is triggered by detector and no instruction is made to the alarm control panel and it makes sound, then there maybe the alarm system error. 6. External siren is wired to the alarm control panel, but it does not sound when alarm control panel alarms. Possible cause: the Positive and negative wiring between siren and control panel is reverse or short-circuit. The siren voltage is low (less than 12V). The external siren is not programmed or correctly programmed to the alarm system. Solutions: Check and confirm the wiring is correct. Check and confirm there is 12V voltage output to the siren when the system alarms. If not, please program the system and turn on the external siren. If all above is ok but still no output from the external siren, please change a siren to test or change a alarm panel to test. 7. The alarm control panel does not dial alarm receiving number when it alarms. Possible causes: strong interference or short-circuit, cut of the telephone line. The receive phone number and communicate format, communicate grade is not programmed correctly to the alarm system. The telephone theft function is turned on. Solutions: Check and confirm the telephone line is good without strong interference, short-circuit and cut. If additional code is needed for outline dialing, please add it to the receive phone number when program it. 8. The alarm control panel does not dial CMS telephone number when it alarms Possible causes: strong interference or short-circuit, cut of the telephone line. CMS telephone number is not correctly programmed into the alarm system or user code is not enrolled or not correctly enrolled. Solution: Check and confirm the telephone line is good without short-circuit and cut. Check and confirm the CMS number including communicate format and grade and user code is programmed correctly. If all above is good and problem still exist, then please check the interference of the telephone line. CMS communication is data communicate and strong interference may lead to communication interruption. Conclusion: the updated new technology alarm control panel has voice, LCD menu, graphic prompt and low battery alert. So, alarm system troubleshooting is easy and the system has self-check maintenance program. So, alarm system is not coded and easy to operate than before.

Automatic fire alarm system terms of manual and automatic control
On the fire regulation, there are some equipment should be automatically controlled by fire alarm control center. They are fire pump, smoke exhausting fan, fire proof door and fire curtain. The fire pump and smoke exhausting fan can not only be automatically controlled by fire alarm control center, but also be directly controlled manually at spot. Manual control buttons should be set on both sides of the fire rolling curtain on the evacuation channel. Why do these devices so important for fire fighting? These devices can extinguish early fire and prevent fire spreading. So, these devices should be automatically turned on or shut off immediately when fire occurs. Fire extinguish system controlling On the fire regulation, other devices are not required to be set as automatically controlling. For example, fire bell horn and fire broadcasting etc. should be manually triggered or linkage output triggered after confirmation or other signal is found. If fire bell and fire broadcasting goes off without confirmation, it may cause unnecessary fear for people if false alarm occurred. In the water extinguishing system, the fire hydrant system is controlled by the fire hydrant button, the start button on the control center linkage controller and the pump button on the pump control box of the pump room. Any button of these three ones is pressed, it will start the fire hydrant pump. It is manually controlled and not automatically controlled. There may have automatic and manual mark on the state switching switch of the control cabinet in the pump room. The automatic here means started by remote controlling and manual means started by local controlling. In an automatic sprinkler system, there are automatic and manual mark on the control cabinet of the sprinkler pump in the pump room. “Manual” means “on-site start” and “automatic” means manual start-up of the pump or pressure switch on the wet alarm valve of the control center. For the whole sprinkler system, “automatic” refers to the pressure switch start-up, and “manual” refers to the control center remote control start-up. Fire monitoring system For pipe network gas fire extinguishing system, the release of fire extinguishing gas must be confirmed by people on the scene. Automatic state of fire identification is equipment confirmation. Its general practice is two sets of detectors at the same time issued alarms, can be considered as a fire start signal. When the first set of detectors alarm, the personnel on duty should immediately rush to the scene to make a manual confirmation on the spot to decide whether to start the fixed fire extinguishing system. Although there are automatic and manual start-up modes in the design, manual start-up mode should be the main one when someone is on duty. So the fire control center panel only displays the manual automatic working state of the system. It monitors the system of alarm and injecting feedback signals at various stages, and controls other linkage devices such as fireproof doors and windows, air conditioning and fireproof valves. Alarm Control Panel does not alarm after connection of perimeter beams detector and trigger or alarm control panel can not be armed cause of the perimeter beams detector zone fault. Possible causes: There is block between transmitter and receiver beams, connection error between beams detector and alarm control panel. The tamp-resistant switch is not closed or there is short-circuit or cut of the wiring, low voltage supplied. The perimeter beams detector zone is not programmed or not correctly programmed. Solutions: Correctly enroll wireless perimeter beams detector or wire wired perimeter beams detector to the alarm control panel with EOL resistor. Check and confirm there is no short-circuit or cut of wiring and confirm the supplied voltage is more than 9V. Check and confirm the transceiver terminal is calibrated to receiver terminal and check the LED indicator to confirm it is at normal work status. Correctly program the zone attribute of the perimeter beams detector. b. At installation and adjustment process, the beams detector keeps triggering alarm at alarm control panel disarm status and can not disarm it. Possible causes: The wired perimeter beams detector circuit is at open status and the defense zone is set as 24 hours zone. Solution: Check the connection of wired beams detector and alarm control panel and confirm it is close circuit with correct EOL resistor wired. Set beams detector zone attribute as normal zone if it is needed. c. The LED calibration instruction is flashing or keeps lighting on Possible causes: Receiver terminal and transmitter terminal is not calibrated correctly, the distance between receiver terminal and transmitter terminal is too long, there is block between receiver terminal and transmitter terminal, low voltage is supplied or tamper-resistant circuit is not closed. Solution: Correctly wiring the signal and power lines between receiver terminal and alarm control panel, check and confirm the tamper circuit is closed. Adjust the receiver terminal and transmitter terminal angle to make sure it is calibrated. Ensure supplied voltage is more than 9V to the beams detector. d. False alarm from perimeter beams detector Possible causes: Voltage fluctuation is too large. Environment interference. There is water input and short-circuit caused of the detector or fault of the detector. Solutions: Check and confirm the supplied voltage is more than 9V. Check and confirm the wiring is good. Replace the false alarm beams with good beams to confirm whether or not the beams is wrong. false alarm2. Detector ( wired detector and wireless detector) a. The detector does not alarm after connection to alarm control panel and triggered or the detector zone has fault and disables arm of the system. Possible causes: The detector is not correctly connected to alarm control panel, the tamper circuit is not closed, there is short-circuit or cut of the wiring or low voltage is supplied. The detector zone attribute is not programmed correctly or not programmed. Solution: Correctly wiring detector and alarm control panel (correct value of EOL resistor should be wired according to the alarm control panel). Check and confirm there is no short-circuit or cut of the wiring. Check and confirm the supplied voltage is more than 9V. Check and confirm the alarm indicator on the detector is off then wiring the tamper circuit closed. Correctly program the detector alarm zone. b. At installation and adjustment process, the detector keeps alarm at alarm control panel disarm status and can not be disarmed. Possible causes: The detector circuit is open and the alarm zone is set as 24 hours zone. Solutions: Check and correct the wiring of the detector and alarm control panel. Set the alarm zones attribute as normal zone. c. False alarm of the detector Possible causes: There is environment interference such as sun light, flowing air and the detector sensitivity is set as high rate. Solution: Install the detector correctly at proper place according to detector’s installation instruction. Adjust the sensitivity according to environment interference. Check the detector voltage. Replace another detector to test and if it still makes false alarm, then install a MW+PIR double technology or so for interference resistance. d. Detector alarm LED keeps flashing and the alarm control panel showed fault of the detector Possible cause: The detector battery voltage is low Solution: Replace the battery for the detector 3.
